Welcome to our official website.

Our troop is in the Thunderbird District of Calumet Council, BSA. We are sponsored by the St. James Holy Name Society. Our supporting Cub Scout packs are Packs 279, 297, 515, and 590.
We meet every Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at St. James Parish in Highland. Our meetings run for about an hour. During our meetings, which are boy-led and boy-run, the Scouts decide what to do and where to go on campouts, work on rank advancements, and finish by playing a game. We also have a "fun night" every four to six weeks where the Scouts relax and watch a movie, play games, or go bowling or mini-golfing.

Our troop goes camping almost every month. Our upcoming campouts include our district camporee in May, our trip to the US Air Force Museum in June and summer camp in July.

Some campouts include a short canoe trip or a hike. We also have an "Introduction to Shooting Sports" campout once a year. Several adult leaders attend all of our campouts, and every safety measure is taken on any trip.

Scouts can also earn merit badges on campouts. There are over 120 different merit badges, and there is one for just about anything. Some merit badges are Camping, First Aid, Pioneering, Rifle Shooting, Wilderness Survival, and Water Sports, just to name a few. Awards like BSA Lifeguard, BSA Mile Swim, the World Conservation Award, and others are also available.

Any boy that has completed the fifth grade or is between 11 and 17-years-old can join our troop. Any second year Webelos Scout can also cross over to our troop from his pack. If you would like to know more about us, please visit us at one of our troop meetings or click here to see more of our website.

If you or your son are not old enough to join our troop, but are interested in joining Scouting, please contact Dominic Podsiadlik at the Calumet Council Service Center for information about a Cub Scout pack near you. You can call him at (219) 836-1720 ext. 229. Dominic is the council professional for Thunderbird District.
